About MahjNearMe

My mom taught me how to play mahjong a while back, and it's become one of our favorite things to do together. Whenever I'm home, we try to play as much as we can. She plays all the time back home and knows the usual spots, but she's always up for finding new games.

I actually came up with the idea for MahjNearMe during one of our trips out of town. She wanted to find a pickup game, but her only options were digging through random websites, Instagram pages, and Facebook groups. She knew she'd probably spend a few hours doing it and just wished there was one easy place that had everything in one spot.

It happened enough times that we finally looked at each other and said, “There has to be a better way.”

So I built MahjNearMe. It's the first real searchable directory for pickup mahjong games, open play sessions, lessons, and events all over the United States. Now whether you're at home looking for more options or traveling and just want to play, you can find a game in minutes instead of wasting hours searching.
